New Years Resolution

I don’t usually do New Years resolutions, and if I do, it’s the usual, try to eat healthier, get fitter, lose some weight etc etc.  But at the start of last year (2010) I decided to make a resolution and so far I’ve stuck to it.

My resolution was to make from scratch every cake we eat at home and for family birthdays.  I am determined to continue this and not to buy any cakes this year (or from now on).  So far, I have succeeded, the only time I’ve had “bought” cake was either at work or when we’re out for dinner.

The reason I decided to do this was, two years ago I received the Planet Cake book for my birthday and realised how easy it was to do some really tasty and good looking cakes and the more I did, the easier it was.  And then when I started looking at packet-cake labels and noticing that some of the ingredients were all numbers and gobble-de-gook, I was more adamant to stick to my resolution.

So let’s see how far I can stick to it.  Here’s what I’ve done so far:
